In the past month I have been working on two projects. The first is entitled 3 REELS. It consists of a video with three different feeds that correlate with three different pieces on the wall. In a way, it is a comparison of three things/places/memories. The video feeds follows three linear paintings that have similar path, but contain different colors taken from specific places and different forms within the path. They are each produced using a different kind of knowledge: first hand and second hand knowledge and also the kind of knowledge an author has about a fictional thing they create. This is a project I hope to expand on in the future and continue this three-part comparison.
Another piece, 46.56 N, 16.45 E is a set of photographs and the props used to make the photographs. As I began working in the studio I tried to think of ways to take advantage of the differences of Lendava and my home. The way the houses are made, the plants that grow here, and the colors that are used. The painted props in the photographs mimic or build off of different places in Lendava to bring attention to certain forms or colors or to create a new form altogether. The work is shown as photos, but it is about these small objects always being attached to a specific place at a certain angle, existing in Lendava and the surrounding area and nowhere else.
